A Komodo boat trip for two, on a Monday or a Friday

Updated 11 October 2026

For two, Princess Lala is a cabin of your own on the open trip, every Monday & Friday. Three days cost from IDR 3,250,000 (≈ USD 199) a head in Cabin 3, which shares a bathroom, and IDR 3,800,000 (≈ USD 233) in a cabin with its own. The whole boat for two starts at IDR 31,750,000 (≈ USD 1,948).

What do two people do on board for three days?

You eat, above all, and in between you walk up a ridge or float over a reef. Our chef cooks every meal, and it comes to the long table in the dining room or to the open-air table at the stern. Grilled fish, crumbed prawns, fried banana with cheese and a glass of dragon-fruit juice are what the photographs show. Tea and coffee wait at the end of the long table all day.

Between meals the boat has places that could have been built for two. There are two canvas deck chairs on the shaded side deck, bean bags on the bow sundeck for the Kalong sunset on the first evening, and your cabin, with a sea-view window and air conditioning for the hour after lunch when the sun is at its worst.

You will not be alone. An open trip carries the guests of every cabin, the guide and photographer, and the long table seats you with all of them. If that sounds like good company, read on. If it sounds like a crowd, go straight to the last section.

Two days or three?

Both leave together. On Monday or Friday a car collects you, your guide having sent the hour the evening before, and the first lunch is eaten on board. Day one is Kelor, Manjarite, Strawberry Rock when the sea allows it, and the sunset off Kalong. Day two is the long one: the Padar ridge, the dragon walk with a ranger, Pink Beach, the drift at Manta Point and a finish on the Taka Makassar sandbar. When the park's quota is full, Gili Lawa stands in for Padar and Rinca for Komodo.

Then the boat divides. The two-day guests go ashore in Labuan Bajo that evening. The three-day guests stay for dinner, a second night on board, one more breakfast and a morning at Kanawa, and step off before lunch on day three.

In a cabin with its own bathroom the two-day fare is IDR 3,400,000 (≈ USD 209) per person and the three-day fare IDR 3,800,000 (≈ USD 233). The difference buys the unhurried end of the trip, after the two-day guests have gone ashore. For a couple, that last evening is the one we would keep.

Which cabin, and what does it cost?

The figures are 2027 fares, valid from 1 January 2027. If you sail in 2026, up to 31 December, take IDR 100,000 (≈ USD 6) off each person's fare, in any cabin. Every cabin on Princess Lala has a window onto the sea, so the choice for two comes down to the bathroom, the stairs and the balcony.

  • Cabin 3, on the upper deck, carries the lowest fare of the six, IDR 3,250,000 (≈ USD 199) each for three days, because its bathroom is shared and outside the cabin. The other five have their own.
  • The cabins numbered 2, 4 and 5 cost IDR 3,800,000 (≈ USD 233) each and have a private bathroom. Cabin 2 is on the upper deck, up a flight of stairs; Cabins 4 and 5 are on the main deck.
  • Cabins 1 and 6, the two masters, add a private balcony, at IDR 4,750,000 (≈ USD 291) and IDR 4,650,000 (≈ USD 285) each.

Cabins 1 to 5 add a single berth next to the double; for a couple it is simply spare room for bags. The fare includes transfers both ways, all meals, water, tea, coffee, snacks and soft drinks, a mask and snorkel, linen and a towel, the guide and the photographs. Park fees are not in it.

Which sailing suits the two of you?

The boat leaves on a Monday or a Friday, so the only question is which. A Friday sailing brings the three-day guests home on Sunday morning, a Monday sailing on Wednesday morning. If you fly out the same day, book a flight after 13:00. On the two-day fare you land in the evening, so the flight is for the next day and you need a hotel in Labuan Bajo that night. Come a day early: a delayed flight on the morning itself can cost you the boat.

As for the season, the sea decides more than the calendar. Our best-time page marks April to June, October and November as the calm months, July and August as windier and busier, and January and February as the wettest and roughest. If either of you gets seasick, choose a calm month and tell us when you write.

The next sailings are listed below. Send us the date and the cabin you would like and we reply with what is free. 50 percent down holds the cabin, and the balance follows 30 days ahead of sailing.

Should the two of you charter instead?

You can, on any date the boat is free. A private charter gives two people the whole phinisi: both tables, the sundeck, the five crew, a pickup hour agreed with you, and whichever cabin you like, a balcony cabin included. For one to four guests the fare is IDR 31,750,000 (≈ USD 1,948) on the two-day route and IDR 38,000,000 (≈ USD 2,331) on the three-day route; these are 2027 fares, and a charter that sails earlier is priced on request.

A charter leaves out two things the open trip includes, the guide and photographer; add either one and it is quoted separately. Park fees and tips are extra on either trip.

If you want the whole boat at a cabin fare, or a private bathroom at the cheapest berth, neither is on offer. For everyone else the sum is short: a cabin with company, or the whole boat at the charter fare. Tell us which you are weighing and we send both figures for your dates.

FAQ

Will the two of us get a double bed or two single beds?

A double. Every cabin on Princess Lala has one double bed, and Cabins 1 to 5 add a single berth next to it. If you are two friends who would rather sleep apart, choose one of those five and one of you takes the single, at the same fare.

Is there a cabin with a private bathroom at the lowest fare?

No. The lowest fare, IDR 3,250,000 (≈ USD 199) each for three days, belongs to Cabin 3, and it is low because the bathroom is shared and outside the cabin. The next step is IDR 3,800,000 (≈ USD 233) in a cabin with a bathroom of its own. We will not sell you Cabin 3 without saying this first.

Can we fly home on the evening the two-day trip ends?

No. Two-day guests reach Labuan Bajo between 19:00 and 20:30 on day two, too late to count on a flight, so plan a night in town and fly the next day. Three-day guests are back before lunch on day three and can book a flight after 13:00.

Can we mark an anniversary or a birthday on board?

Tell us the date. A decorated cabin or deck and a dinner built around a special request are services we arrange when asked, quoted separately, and nothing is added to your fare without a written quote. We sell no fixed celebration package. Anything about the food, raise with us first.

What does the open-trip fare for two leave out?

Park fees and the ranger, flights, hotel nights in Labuan Bajo, tips for the crew and guide, and travel insurance. The boat carries no fins, so bring a pair if you swim with them, and bring cash for the fees and tips.
