Princess Lala Phinisi

A treat on a Komodo phinisi, with a balcony or the whole boat

Updated 11 October 2026

The treat on Princess Lala is a balcony of your own: Cabin 1 or Cabin 6, from IDR 4,650,000 (≈ USD 285) a head on the three-day fare, with a chef cooking for the long table. Or take the whole timber phinisi, her chef and her crew of five to yourselves, from IDR 31,750,000 (≈ USD 1,948).

The balcony, the chef and the crew

She is a timber phinisi with six cabins, a chef and a crew of five, and the treat on board is easy to name. Two of the cabins have a private balcony, a bean bag on one and a bench on the other. The chef cooks for a long table indoors and a second table at the stern, and the plates come to them hot from the galley. And five crew look after at most eighteen guests.

We describe only what the photographs on this site show, and they show every cabin and both tables as they are. The Wi-Fi comes from a crew hotspot and drops between islands, and the boat has no satellite link.

The rest of this page takes the balcony first, then the whole boat, then the comforts that are real.

The balcony, and which one

Two cabins have a private balcony, and they are the treat on the open trip. Cabin 1 is on the upper deck, up a flight of stairs: a master with three-sided windows and a bean bag on the balcony, with a double and a single bed. Cabin 6 is on the main deck, with no stairs: a master with a bench on the balcony and one double bed (a third berth comes only with a private charter).

For three days Cabin 6 costs IDR 4,650,000 (≈ USD 285) per person and Cabin 1 IDR 4,750,000 (≈ USD 291); for two days they cost IDR 4,250,000 (≈ USD 261) and IDR 4,450,000 (≈ USD 273). Cabin 6 goes to two guests on the open trip, with no extra bed. Cabin 1 takes a third guest at the extra-bed fare, which makes it the master for a couple with one child.

Or the whole boat and the cook to yourselves

The other way to treat yourself is not to share. A private charter gives you the whole phinisi: both tables, the sundeck, the five crew, a pickup hour agreed with you instead of a window, and every cabin, balconies included. The lowest charter fare is IDR 31,750,000 (≈ USD 1,948), for one to four guests on the two-day route; the three-day route costs IDR 38,000,000 (≈ USD 2,331) for one to four, IDR 41,000,000 (≈ USD 2,515) for five to eight guests, IDR 46,000,000 (≈ USD 2,822) for nine to twelve.

Two guests on a charter pay the same as four. If a couple wants Cabin 1 and Cabin 6 and the run of an empty boat, that is the sum, and it is a large one.

A charter fare leaves out a local guide and the photographer, which the open trip includes; both can be added and are quoted separately. Park fees and tips are yours on either trip.

The comforts that are real

Nothing here needs a fancy adjective. Each cabin has air conditioning, a sea-view window, power sockets, bed linen and a bath towel. The long table has a station for tea and coffee at one end, and the stern table sits under a timber roof. The bow sundeck is laid with green turf and bean bags, and two canvas deck chairs wait on the shaded side deck.

On the open trip a photographer sails with you, so the pictures of the two of you are taken by someone whose job it is. The chef's fish, prawns and fried banana come to the table hot, and they are examples, not a fixed list. If anyone at the table keeps a special diet, raise it with us first.

If you want more than a timber boat gives

There is no spa, no pool and no butler on board. Some guests want a larger vessel with a lounge, a pool on deck and a staff that outnumbers them. That is a fair thing to want, and we are not it. The cabins are a double and a single bed with little floor around them; they are not hotel suites.

Think of her as a very good small boat rather than a small grand one. If that suits you, the treat is easy to describe: a balcony of your own or the boat to yourselves, a chef's table at every meal, and a guide and photographer in the fare if you sail on the open trip.

Tell us which of the two treats you are weighing, and the dates, and we send the figure for each.

FAQ

What is the treat on Princess Lala?

A balcony cabin from IDR 4,650,000 (≈ USD 285) a head on the three-day fare, or the whole boat from IDR 31,750,000 (≈ USD 1,948). The boat is a timber phinisi with six cabins, all air-conditioned, two of them masters with a private balcony, and a chef who cooks for both tables.

Can I book a balcony cabin on the two-day fare?

Yes. Cabin 6 on the two-day open trip is IDR 4,250,000 (≈ USD 261) per person and Cabin 1 is IDR 4,450,000 (≈ USD 273). Both sail every Monday & Friday, and you go ashore in Labuan Bajo that evening, so plan a hotel night. The three-day fare adds a morning at Kanawa.

Do you have a spa, a pool or a butler on board?

No. None of the three is on our list of what the boat carries. The comforts are a sea-view window and air conditioning in every cabin, two balcony masters, a chef, and a crew of five. If a spa or a pool decides your holiday, a larger yacht is the better booking.

Is the whole boat really private, or do other guests join?

On a private charter nobody joins. The boat, the crew, both tables and the sundeck are yours, and you choose the pickup hour. Only the open trip carries guests from several cabins. A charter starts at IDR 31,750,000 (≈ USD 1,948) and sleeps up to 18.

What does a charter leave out that the open trip includes?

A local guide, and the photo and video work. Both can be added to a charter and are quoted separately. Park fees and tips are paid by you on either trip.
